If We Were United

If We Were United

On paper

A human body in blue lines, an animal body in red; the two entangled on the same green ground, a single knot in which it is impossible to tell whose arm is whose leg.

The title opens with a hypothesis: 'if we were united'. Instead of a hierarchy between species — the order that dictates which we love and which we eat — two bodies curled up side by side. The artist's conviction that animals are individuals with intrinsic rather than instrumental value takes its simplest form here: two bodies, one whole.
